6000 Hollywood Blvd
Location: Los Angeles, CAFirm: OFFICEUNTITLED
The project explores the dichotomies of Hollywood: The City and the Hills. One is a place to explore and to see and be seen. The other is a place to escape to and recharge, with pockets of nature.

It’s location at the start of Hollywood Blvd necessitates a density to continue the urban experience. However, the intention is to introduce the nature and peaceful moments found in the Hills back into the city. To achieve this, the project weaves several typologies together: A dense residential tower, a cascading village of residential townhomes, a public plaza with retail and dining, and an office block with terraces. Connecting these pieces are a variety of landscaped spaces, allowing all users a connection to nature, and the possibility to interact in different ways.

Residents of the project will enjoy various amenities, including landscaped podium spaces, a playground, an upper-level pool deck and club room with city views, and a fitness center. Office tenants will have direct access to landscaped meeting spaces at the podium level and terraced decks on the upper levels. The lobby connects the ground level to podium-level gathering spaces. Both residents and office tenants will easily access the public plaza, fostering interactions between the site’s communities. The plaza will feature restaurants, retail, and access to a podium level with views of the Hollywood Sign.

This project was completed while working at OFFICEUNTITLED. Visit them to see more of their amazing work.

Koreatown Co-Living
Location: Los Angeles, CAFirm: OFFICEUNTITLED
The city’s housing shortage has created an urgent demand for diverse and innovative building typologies. Located near the heart of Koreatown, this project aims to foster a co-living experience in the city’s center. The design offers a layered experience, transitioning seamlessly from public to private spaces. Generous communal amenities include a gym, co-working spaces, and an extensive rooftop garden. Semi-private kitchens and living rooms are shared by small groups of 3-5 people, while each resident enjoys a fully furnished room with an ensuite bathroom.

Architecturally, the building embodies the concept of weaving. The façade, grouped in two-floor sections, folds inward to reveal warm wooden accented frames. Aluminum-shrouded windows provide shading and highlight the depth of the curved façade, adding both aesthetic and functional value to the design.

This project was completed while working at OFFICEUNTITLED. Visit them to see more of their amazing work.

AVA Arts District
Location: Los Angeles, CAFirm: OFFICEUNTITLED
Situated on the eastern edge of Downtown Los Angeles, the project draws inspiration from the neighborhood’s ongoing transformation from industrial warehouses to a thriving creative enclave filled with lofts, galleries, studios, and murals. It provides 475 live/work units and extensive retail and arts production spaces.

The project follows the “Buildings on a Building” concept. This helps break the building into a scale more appropriate for the neighborhood.

The building aims to continue the Arts District’s legacy. Retail and restaurant spaces line the streetscape, while a new public plaza with additional restaurant spaces is carved into the building. A large heritage tree restores a connection to nature, and steps in the building design allow sunlight to reach Industrial Street. At the rear, a new public park occupies a former rail spur alley, now lined with artists’ studios and workshops to maintain the district’s creative spirit.

Contrasting its industrial exterior, the project includes extensive and colorful amenity spaces designed to foster community and inspire creativity. A four-story atrium allows natural light to penetrate deep into the building. Local timber perches and private work lounges clad in weathered steel or dichroic glass offer various spaces for work and socializing.

This project was completed while working at OFFICEUNTITLED. Visit them to see more of their amazing work.

Mid City Residence
Location: Los Angeles, CAFirm: Clive Wilkinson Architects

This home was designed for a creative couple relocating to California. They wanted a home that would allow them to live and work while being connected to nature. The home needed to accommodate their large art collection, as well as a private screening room.

Located on a tight lot, the home seeks to be generous to both the land and the community. Rather the maximizing the building envelope, the house is organized as a series of volumes pulled apart by pockets of greenery.

The home provides a sequence of spaces, interspersed with moments for contemplation. Entering through a narrow-layered courtyard, one is welcomed into a double height living space that opens to back yard. To reach the master bedroom, one is pulled through a meditation garden. The concrete screening room is entered by passing through a glass corridor, offering intimate views of the garden. The home office is accessed by traversing up the stairs and back outside along a long rooftop garden.

The materials, chosen for their low maintenance needs, act as a backdrop to ever changing landscape.

Bolsa Chica Wetlands (The Nest)
Location: Bolsa Chica, CACompetition
The Nest is the new home for the Bolsa Chica Wetlands Center. It provides a new picnic area, visitor’s center, and observation tower, all while trying to protect the fragile ecosystem around it. It functions as a collection of programmatic volumes all placed under one roof. The connective tissue results in a dynamic and playful new public space.

This project was developed as part of a timed competition. Everything was developed, from arrival of the project breif to to final presentaion, in four days.
